Born in 1970 Greg Overton has been painting western subjects since he was in
grade school. He was copying the works of Remington and Russell at age 7.
Overton worked in the commercial art field in his twenties honing his craft
doing everything from computer graphics to special effects art for amusement
parks as well as scenic work for the theatre. In 2001 he made the switch to
fine art full time, portraying the western subjects he had painted since he
was a child.
Overton does extensive research for his artwork, he also attends powwows to
gain a better understanding of native culture both ancient and modern.
Greg was named an “Artist to Watch” in Southwest magazine in June of 2003.
Greg was also featured in “Western Art Collector” January 2008. |
