Ron Rencher is a plein air painter from Southwestern Utah. He currently lives on the family ranch that was settled by his great-great grandfather in the 1860s, moving from Taos, New Mexico to take care of his mother. Rencher’s saving grace was the paint box he discovered at age ten that had been used at one time by his recently deceased father. His artistic skills were developed and noticed early. He went on to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art from Southern Utah State College, but went back to the ranch to help out after college, waiting about six years to pursue his career.

Rencher paints quickly and says, “You must catch what’s important quickly and let go of the rest,” claims that painting is a meditation. He has been a member of the Plein Air Painters of America since 1998, converting to this style of painting after studying with artist Walter Zorns in 1984. His work is part of collections in the Buttram Museum, the Las Vegas Art Museum, Citicorp and the Lincoln Medical Center.
