David Edward Kucera was
born in San Jose, California on March 20th, 1961. With an artist nature that began at a very early age, Kucera's family was graced with his first serious works on his bedroom walls and household encyclopedias.
At the age of ten, he and his family moved to Sherman County, Nebraska, where he completed his grade school and high school education. It was in this quiet farming community that he found art classes to be among his favorite studies.
In 1984 this highly creative individual chose to attend the Musician's Institute in Hollywood, California, where he studied until 1985. Focusing on the guitar as his instrument of choice, he toured in a road band for the following year.
Kucera met his wife Paulette in Rock Springs, Wyoming in 1986. By mutual agreement, they took turns working to support each other's education. Kucera worked various jobs in the Casper and Cheyenne areas, while Paulette completed her college classes to become a Medical Laboratory Technician. Two years from their meeting, they were married in 1988. In 1989 the roles reversed when the couple moved to Denver. Paulette secured a job at an outstanding children's hospital, and Ed Kucera began his formal schooling at the Colorado Institute of Art. In June of 1991 the artist graduated with honors. Kucera attributes much of his success to the understanding nature and tremendous support of his lovely wife.
D.E. Kucera's attention to detail in landscape and color is a result of many hours of fieldwork and study. His love for portraying a natural realism is evident throughout his work The artist's future plans are to explore new mediums and to surprise his collectors with his boundless collection of ideas in artistic creation.
