Born in Stillwater, OK and raised
throughout the West, Gay Faulkenberry grew up in an
artistic family and was encouraged at an early age to
pursue her art. Gay studied at both Southwestern State and
Oklahoma State Universities, but it wasn't until a trip to
Taos, New Mexico in 1978 that Gay took a more serious
direction to pursuing a fine art career. Her in-depth
training with noted Russian-born artist Sergei Bongart
gave Gay a solid foundation in representational painting.
In addition, she has studied with Ray Vinella, Ned Jacob
and Mark Daily. Since that time she has attained national
recognition with her work and exhibits throughout the
country.
Painting professionally for the past twenty years, Gay's
subject matter is well rounded and includes Still Life,
Floral, Landscapes and Interiors. Her work is found in
many private and corporate collections and featured in
numerous art publications. From the school of
impressionism/realism, Gay has attracted a growing
audience of collectors as well as receiving numerous
awards of excellence. She is a signature member and acting
secretary of the prestigious Plein Air Painters of
America, as well as a signature member of American Women
Artists and Alla Prima International.
Gay now teaches workshops throughout the United States and
various regions of France, Italy and Belgium. Although Gay
has lived in Arizona, Texas, New Mexico and Colorado, she
now resides in Duncan, Oklahoma with her husband.
